September 26 was Etsy Made in Canada day. As someone who (use to, and {spoiler alert} plans to again soon) sells on Etsy, I am so thrilled to see these markets pop up not only around our country, but around the world as well! I am a strong believer in supporting local and supporting handmade. Is there anything better than owning something that someone has created with love and passion for what they do?
After our wedding in 2011, I posted some photos of the flowers I had made for our day in my already existent Etsy shop. Before long, my card shop was fully transformed into a bridal bouquet boutique. I was making flowers for brides around the world and loving every minute. I cannot describe the feeling when brides would take the time to send photos from their day. Knowing that they chose to walk down the aisle holding one of my creation was such a compliment… It gave me butterflies every time.
Although I was riding high on the Etsy train, I decided to take a break when I went back to work full time after Olive. Between my hours (and hours) of commuting a day on top of a full work day, I decided that my weekends should be dedicated to my family. My Etsy shop went on hiatus for an unknown period of time.
I miss making and selling. I realized this when I attended the Etsy Made in Canada – Ottawa show. Walking around the event made me wish I was set up, sharing my wares. I have big plans to jump back on the train… I have been working hard over the last 2 years experimenting with my ideas. I feel so close, and I can’t wait!
While I try to perfect my product, I wanted to share a few of my favourite vendors from the pop-up market! All made in my own back yard! Go have a look and give them some love!
